What Valve has said
Nothing about consoles. Deadlock's Steam page lists it as a PC playtest with access limited to friend invites, and Valve has made no platform announcement beyond that. Any article claiming a PS5 or Xbox release window is describing something Valve has not said.
Why a port is unlikely soon
- The game is in early development with placeholder art and experimental mechanics. Console certification is a late-stage activity.
- Distribution is through Steam's playtest system, which has no console equivalent. Shipping on console would require an entirely different access model.
- Valve's recent titles have launched on PC first, with console support treated separately or not at all.
Steam Deck
The Deck runs Steam titles through Proton, so Deadlock is technically reachable there in a way it is not on PS5 or Xbox. Valve has not given Deadlock a Deck compatibility rating, which is expected for an unreleased playtest — an unrated title is not a broken one, it is an unassessed one.
