Deadlock player count
What is measurable, and what is not
There is no official Deadlock player count. Deadlock is an invite-only playtest, and Steam does not publish concurrent players for playtest apps — the API returns nothing for it, which is why Deadlock has no SteamDB chart. What can be measured: 178k unique accounts appeared in tracked ranked matches over the last 30 days.
| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Unique ranked players (30d) | 178k |
| Ranked matches tracked (30d) | 270k |
| Matches tracked per day | 58k |
| Matches live at last check | 150 |
What each number actually means
- Unique ranked players (30d)
- Unique player accounts seen in ranked matches tracked by the community Deadlock API over the last 30 days. This is a floor, not a total: it counts players who appeared in a tracked ranked match, and misses anyone who only played unranked or was not sampled.
- Ranked matches tracked (30d)
- Ranked matches tracked over the last 30 days.
- Matches tracked per day
- Matches ingested per day by the community Deadlock API, reported by its own status endpoint.
- Matches live at last check
- Matches in progress at 2026-08-14T20:03:33.229Z. A single snapshot, not a peak or an average, and it moves by the minute.
Why we do not publish a concurrent count
We could divide matches-per-day by an assumed session length and print a confident-looking number. It would be an estimate resting on an invented assumption, and there would be no way for you to tell. Every figure above is something that was counted, and the sentence under it says exactly what was counted and over what period.
Common questions
- How many people play Deadlock?
- There is no official concurrent-player figure. Deadlock is an invite-only playtest app, and Steam does not publish player counts for playtest apps. The measurable figure is unique accounts seen in tracked ranked matches, shown on this page.
- Why is Deadlock not on SteamDB player charts?
- Steam only publishes concurrent-player data for released apps. Deadlock’s app is a playtest, so the API that powers those charts returns nothing for it.
- Is Deadlock still active?
- Yes. Tens of thousands of ranked matches are tracked every day and Valve ships builds most weeks — every one of them is diffed on this site.
